One of the unique things about our URL redirect service is our support for HTTPS redirects. There are two different types of support that we offer, partial and automatic.
Partial HTTPS support
Partial HTTPS support allows you to redirect from non-HTTPS URLs to HTTPS URLs. For example, let's say you want to redirect from www.foo.com to www.bar.com. Partial HTTPS support would allow you to redirect the non-HTTPS version of www.foo.com (i.e. http://www.foo.com), but it would not allow you to redirect the HTTPS version (i.e. https://www.foo.com). If you attempted to access https://www.foo.com you'd receive an SSL certificate warning in your web browser telling you that the domain names did not match what the browser expected them to be.
Automatic HTTPS support
Automatic HTTPS, allows you to redirect secure HTTPS URLs to other HTTPS URLs (or even non-HTTPS URLs if you wish). Our URL redirect service gives you a seamless way to manage HTTPS URLs and provides automatic SSL certificates through Let's Encrypt. To accomplish this, you need to fill in the URL you wish to redirect, and the target you wish to redirect to. Your dashboard will then give you the values needed to modify your DNS records. This DNS record modification needs to be done FIRST. Once the DNS records point to our URL redirect service the redirects will work immediately, and will automatically be configured for HTTPS redirection. Our URL redirect service uses military-grade encryption to keep all your data secure, including your SSL certificates and private keys.
Choosing between Partial and Automatic HTTPS support
We recommend all customers use a plan that supports Automatic HTTPS. This will ensure that all visitors will be able to use your redirects without worry of security warnings, and will ensure the best SEO benefits for your redirects. All currently offered plans support Automatic HTTPS.
